Last jam making of the year

Hello, my friends!

As I told you yesterday I discovered the joy of fruit this summer and made a lot of jam. Cherry jam, strawberry jam, apricot jam… I thought that it would be nice to give jam jars as Christmas gifts to my friends and mused a lot about how to embellish them for this special occasion… well, I found that kitchen string could be quite decorative… as much as buttons and tags…

Cherry jam

Strawberry jam

Apricot jam

I made the last pot of jam of the season last week with some really juicy plums…

… and I crafted the tags for the jars…

… with crocheted flowers which pattern is from this beautiful book…

The importance of avoiding the twist

I did it and understood what went wrong during the first try of the topdown cast on…. I didn’t pay any attention to the twist of the cast on stitches and I made a total disaster. Moreover I didn’t start with the right needles… the cord of the circular needles must be a good one which helps you keep under control the stitches and their direction… I saw that this is one of the basic rules if you want to knit with a topdown method… so here’s my beginning…

I decided to follow this pattern literally.. I find it quite clear and suitable for a firts project ever of that kind… I foresee a lot of mistakes and undoings but I also think that I will go through this project…. I’m following the directions for 46.5 inches chest measure and, since I don’t have 3,75 mm needles at mine, I knitted the first two rows with 3.5 mm needles and now I’m continuing with 4 mm ones. Maybe the T-shirt will be a bit large but I can always make a neck edging to keep it more fitting in a second time… what do you think about..? Have I made properly my calculation?

…. yes, you understood it right…. this is my first try in making a magic loop with circular needles….

So … since life is beautiful and I’m a calm, patient and so very self controlled woman ( buhahahahahahahaha) , I’ll try again….

What to say….

I’m so disappointed…. my dress turned out so badly…. 😦 😦 😦 I still can’t understand why… there was no specific pattern, only a V neckline and a rib edging on the arm holes…. I tried it on and… oh,my Grandma has a more lively look than me…. the dress is so old fashioned…. what a frustration…. It is a bit large too,a fact that certainly do not help to make it wearable…. so I’ve undone the neck and the arm hole edging….

….. and now I’m knitting a large turtleneck ….. once finished, I’ll see if it would be worth the effort or if undoing would be a better solution…..

DID SOMETING SIMILAR HAPPEND TO YOU TOO? WHAT DO YOU DO IN THESE SITUATIONS?
